2003

During the disappointingly cold start to our holiday, we were able to explore part of Crete.  We soon found beautiful beaches, picturesque views and friendly eating establishments.  Fantastic views from The Mill.  Enjoyed watching the Golden Oriles first thing in the morning.

Thank you for the use of your old Olive Mill – with luck we shall be back!  May many more people enjoy The Mill in the coming years.

A very relaxing atmosphere.  Just the place to forget all the troubles and waste away the days with nothing but the sun on your back.  We can’t wait to come back.

What a wonderful place to sit and view

The sun, the sea, the stars,

As life meanders at a pace

So far removed from ours,

Sit back, relax, enjoy your time

And watch the olives grow,

The Mill, so peaceful in itself

You’ll never want to go.

We took a gamble and booked The Mill for a ‘family’ holiday, twelve of us, matriarch mother, children, partners, and grand children.  The Mill worked its magic, and there were no arguments, just happy, happy people.  We loved the place, the people, the atmosphere.

Thank you for making it such a perfect holiday, and thank you for your inspiration on how to make something special from a ruin.  We will be back.

Fantastic Mill and Pool.  Great views and attention to detail, a wonderful place to come and relax completely.  The Mill felt like home from home.  Didn’t want to leave.  Falassana and Elafonisei were both a ‘must’ to go and see.

What a fabulous Villa, the views were spectacular, and the location wonderful.  You have created a beautiful and relaxing home.  We would like to return to Crete at some stage, but would also like to be a little nearer the Minoan sites, so perhaps we will consider a two centre holiday.  Thank you again.

We had a wonderful time. The swimming pool was great and really refreshing after a long day in Chania which was really good for souvenirs. The Mill has gorgeous decorations, and another thing I really liked is that you can enjoy your stay at whatever age as I am only ten I loved the stay there and us three girls had a little part of the mill all to ourselves! Thank you

What a unique and special place!  Two weeks was far too little as the atmosphere of The Mill and the island gradually enveloped us.  Many thanks for letting us share this unique home from home.

When 8 went off to the Old Olive Mill,

They had a great time, and no one was ill!

The only thing that spoilt their fun,

They were unable to use the pool in the sun,

Because it was dirty, mucky and green!

The mended pump was not to be seen,

The goats, the chickens and the locals were great,

Over and out from The Olive Mill 8!!

(Note.  Arrangements were made for a return visit in 2004.  The pool pump was damaged due to a drop in voltage, and without my knowing attempts (unwisely) were made to effect repair locally.  The standby pump held by my (then) electricians ‘went missing’, and a replacement unit had to be couriered from Athens, by which time . . .my sincere apologies)

Simply marvellous!  Recommend Tamam in Hania (Restaurant) and Ravdouha beach and taverna (simple, quiet and friendly).  We’ll be back!

We had the most wonderful time staying in the Old Olive Mill.  It exceeded all our expectations.  We loved the traditional décor and attention to detail.  We’ll miss the spectacular setting and wonderful ambience of this special place.  We crisscrossed Western Crete, but still so much more to discover!

The most spectacular experience was going to Balos Beach at the tip of the Gramvousa Peninsular!  Did the trip by boat from Kastelli.  What more can I say . . . .  Thank you!!
